Beginning as an Olympic wrestler, Henry was the youngest gold medalist ever at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He went on to conquer the sport of MMA and now holds a 16–2 career record that came with UFC Championships in two weight divisions simultaneously.

Henry’s Story:

Born in Los Angeles, California, Henry Cejudo is the second youngest out of seven siblings. “Triple C” is a former two-division world champion in the UFC and an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling. That’s where his story really begins, with wrestling. He took up wrestling at a young age, where it was apparent that he was a special talent. It didn’t take long for him to start showcasing it. Before famously taking over the 2008 Olympics, Henry was a multi-time USA National Champion and Pan American Champion wrestler, winning multiple golds in both. He also won the Pan American Games gold medal in 2007.

At 21 years old he went to Beijing, China as part of the United States men’s wrestling team. The competition was fierce and the United States was not supposed to have a shot at the 55 kg gold medal, due to the heavily favoured Tomohiro Matsunaga out of Japan. Nonetheless, Henry Cejudo entered into the gold medal match as an underdog and came out of it as the youngest Olympic wrestling gold medalist ever. After topping off his wrestling career with an Olympic gold medal, Cejudo decided it was time to enter the world of mixed martial arts in 2013.

By 2014 he was fighting in the UFC with a 6–0 record. Heading into his first shot at the title against one of the all-time great fighters of his era, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, Cejudo was a 10–0 undefeated prodigy with extraordinary victories over sound opponents. However, he would go on to lose in his first title shot against Johnson. Henry then travelled the world to train and learn from the very best all over the globe. He returned to the octagon and won two fights against top contenders, including Bellator bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis. Cejudo then earned his rematch with “Mighty Mouse” and captured the flyweight title. From that point on, Henry never lost again.

In January 2019, the UFC switched its coverage over to ESPN. Their inaugural flight on the new network was bantamweight champion, TJ Dillashaw, going down to challenge for a second belt at flyweight versus Henry Cejudo. Cejudo was a 5 to 1 underdog before the fight and nobody gave him a chance to win, except of course himself. He defeated Dillashaw in 32 seconds by TKO and instantly became one of the most revered fighters in the world. Going up in weight to capture another belt was next for him after defending his title. Dillashaw’s title was vacant so Henry would take on number 1 contender, Marlon Moraes, for the vacant, undisputed belt. He would capture the bantamweight title by stopping Moraes in an amazing comeback victory that showed his true grit and heart. The newly named “Triple C” went on to defend his new belt in a highly anticipated matchup.
In Henry’s final fight in May 2020, he fought former long-time champion, Dominick Cruz. Another victory by the finish for Cejudo via 2nd round TKO. His run from winning the flyweight title against Demetrious Johnson to retiring on top as a world champion was unprecedented. The calibre of competition he not only faced but truly dominated against was so high, making the feats he achieved all the more impressive.

Henry Cejudo is cemented as an all-time legend and is one of the greatest and most accomplished combat sports athletes of all time. He has remained relevant in the fight world since his retirement, staying involved in the sport through social media and podcasting. He is the co-host of Hotboxin with Mike Tyson with the former boxing great alongside him. Henry has since found love, gotten married, and now has a beautiful baby girl named America. Very fitting for the USA Olympian. He’s also recently turned his attention to coaching other championship-calibre fighters and helping them reach the same heights that he did.
Most notably being coached now by Cejudo in Arizona are former UFC champions Jon Jones, Zhang Weili, and Deiveson Figueiredo. However, the desire to fight is still there for Cejudo, it just has to be appetizing enough for him to return to the sport. In fact, he’s repeatedly stated that he would like a chance at making history and going for the featherweight belt, giving him 3 titles in the UFC. He would be the first to accomplish this feat. After all, he has been first at nearly everything he has set out to do.

Henry Cejudo’s NFT drop will be coming soon exclusively only on Blockasset. A collection of 2000 NFTs, celebrating Triple Champ’s success inside and outside the octagon!
