For the second time this month, a Blockasset athlete became a World Champion at Madison Square Garden, New York City.
Just 12 days after Alex Pereira took the UFC Middleweight title from Israel Adesanya in the Big Apple, his Blockasset roster colleague Brendan Loughnane celebrated a historic win over Bubba Jenkins.
Loughnane’s fourth round TKO victory saw him become the fourth ever British world champion of a major MMA promotion — following the footsteps of Blockasset Legend Michael Bisping and Blockasset athlete Leon Edwards.
Our media team was out in New York City following Loughnane and Dakota Ditcheva’s final preparations for Friday’s PFL World Championship event. Our latest BlockAccess Fight Week episode was released on our YouTube last Friday.

Ditcheva also impressed on Friday, having opened the night’s fight card with a first-round KO victory over Katherine Corogenes.

FIFA World Cup
The world’s largest sporting event is well and truly underway in Qatar — and there has been no shortage of talking points…
Keeping things strictly Blockasset, last week we released a new digital collectable celebrating Blockasset Legend, Wayne Rooney’s record-breaking 53 goals for England.
You’ll have noticed that we’re slowly distributing these 53 pieces throughout the duration of the World Cup. The first two went on Blaze, we’re rewarding loyal community members and our new community shareholders, and we’ll also use an allocation of these exclusive 53 collectibles to collaborate with other projects and communities, notably within the sports memorabilia/collectables space.
We tried to give a special edition Rooney collectible away on Twitter on Friday, by inviting users to predict the time of the first goal in the England v USA match — naturally, the game ended 0–0… 😳
Watch our Twitter timeline tomorrow… We’ll do the same thing for Wales v England.
Whilst England v USA was a tough watch, there have been some incredible stories at this World Cup already — notably Saudi Arabia’s unlikely win over much-fancied Argentina.
Despite taking the lead through Lionel Messi, Argentina were rocked by goals from Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari in their opening group match, which coincided with the price of their $ARG fan token falling by 40%.
With the national federations of Portugal and Argentina (Chiliz), Brazil and Spain (Bitci) all collaborating with partners to release fan tokens, it will be fascinating to see the price behaviour as we move to the later stages of the World Cup, especially if these nations happen to compete against each other.
Our team is both enthused and excited by what our friends at Chiliz are doing with fan tokens, and it’s great to see something, which is very much the genesis of our athlete tokens, associated to the one of the largest global sporting events there is. Bring on 2023!

Our Product team has been pretty quiet over the last few weeks, with full attention on the ongoing athlete token platform build.
However, those of you who caught our Co-Founder, Ryan on The NFT Daily’s Twitter Space last week would have heard that everything is currently on track for a Q1 2023 release.
We have further good news to share from our Product team: Auctions are now live on Blaze!

And, they say that all good things come in threes… so you’ll also be delighted to hear that our new set staking and pools functionality is now imminent.
