Blockasset Weekly Newsletter: 24/10/22
It has been another incredibly busy week behind the scenes at Blockasset.
Last week saw, two new athlete announcements, three Blockasset athletes competing at UFC 280 and some further product enhancements.
Here’s a weekly update from our key departments:
Blockasset’s new ‘always-on’ advertising campaign launched on Friday last week, and we have already seen traffic to the site grow by 450% with a number of new users signing up for early access to our athlete token platform.
The majority of this new traffic is coming from Germany and Sweden, whilst Brazil is also a really strong source of new users.
The main KPI for this initial campaign was to raise awareness of Blockasset among followers of similar sports-based projects on other chains, such as Socios, Sorare, Autograph and Candy.
This week, we’ll be launching re-targeting campaigns to users who expressed an interest in our brand awareness campaign, with the end goal of these users buying $BLOCK and/or Blockasset NFTs.
Some of you may have noticed that we’ve adopted the hashtag #WhoYouGot on our socials. We see this as the first part of a warm up to releasing our athlete token platform, and we appreciate all of you using the hashtag when interacting with our posts!
On that note, we continued to step up the marketing for our upcoming athlete tokens with a video featuring some of our partner athletes last week. Here it is, if you missed it:
We spent a lot of time last week looking at planning localised marketing campaigns in Brazil. Blockasset is blessed with a strong Brazilian community and some of our marquee athletes are incredibly popular in the country.
Our team out in Brazil has made a phenomenal start, with a +1,096% increase in organic reach on Instagram. This was due, in part, to a Caio Borralho signed glove giveaway. We’ll have further giveaways, content and promotions tailored to users in Brazil in the near future, including a big upcoming athlete announcement, so make sure you follow our Blockasset Brazil pages!
With three of our athletes competing at UFC 280, we wanted to try something new with our users and roadtest a concept that you’ll see on our athlete token platform when it is released. Block Super Six was a predictions game around six fights at UFC 280, with a prize pool of $1,000 in $BLOCK.
For this first edition of Block Super Six, we decided to keep it exclusive to our Discord, Telegram and Email communities, and the engagement was strong with hundreds of entries. One member of our community successfully predicted the winner, outcome and method of victory for the first three fights of the game, but was eliminated after an incorrect prediction of the Petr Yan v Sean O’Malley fight.
As with all of our marketing initiatives, we have taken a lot of insight and learnings from Block Super Six, and we’ll work on making some enhancements and improvements, so watch out for further Block Super Six games in the future!
Our Media team was also really busy last week, with six new pieces of original content hitting our channels and a live watchparty stream of UFC 280 on our YouTube.
On that note…
Our Talent team never stops in its relentless mission to sign the world’s most exciting athletes, and we announced two further additions to the Blockasset stable last week.
First up was Blockasset’s first ever female athlete, Dakota Ditcheva — a three-time Muay Thai World Champion, and 6–0 PFL prospect.
That announcement was quickly followed by the confirmation of Caio Borralho as a Blockasset athlete. Borralho made it three wins from three fights in the UFC, in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
With two more Blockasset athletes fighting at UFC 280, it was a particularly busy week for the team — but the guys took a break from their normal schedule to host a Blockasset UFC 280 watchparty from Thailand, with a number of guests including Darren Till and Brendan Loughnane.
Last week’s two new athlete signings will be followed by further announcements in the coming weeks.
It will be no surprise that the main focus for our product team this week has been on the athlete token platform, and that will remain to be the case until the platform’s full release.
However, the team made progress on some features to our existing products over the last week.
Auction functionality has been built for our Blaze platform, and is currently in testing. We’re also in the early stages of implementation for our first athlete token release, and are currently testing different utilities for this token.
